Project 4A - Remuera

Constructed in 1990, this bustling five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence, with many of its original features intact (including a Japanese-style shower/soaking tub), was ripe for a makeover. Board and Batten Design took on the task of reimagining the wet rooms throughout the home to enhance their aesthetic appeal and increase their functional usability. The bathrooms were burdened with a mix of bulky fixtures, fittings, and outdated large pink and green tiles that made the spaces feel cramped and out-of-date.

Through the removal of older fixtures and the introduction of contemporary alternatives, we not only optimised the available space but also provided the five-member family with additional storage solutions. The incorporation of sleek design and clean lines contributed to an overall modern finish in each room.

Although the products, materials, and finishes employed in each wet area were distinct, they were carefully chosen for their ability to visually harmonise, resulting in a cohesive aesthetic. Characterised by an organic style, rich textures, and soft earthy colours, these materials and finishes seamlessly blend to craft beautifully functional wet areas that withstand the test of time.

“We’re really happy with the way they’ve turned out and wish we’d done it years ago. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you.”
